General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, has told aspiring parliamentary candidates of the party not to consider going independent should they be disqualified during vetting.
He was addressing the opening of a vetting exercise for parliamentary aspirants in the Northern Region Saturday in the lead up to the November 7 primaries.
The exercise was originally scheduled for Wednesday but had to be postponed to Saturday and Sunday because of the Eid holiday.
Aspirants for 16 of 31 constituencies would be vetted on Saturday, while the aspirants for the remaining 15 constituencies would have their turn on Sunday.
“Some of you will win, some of you will not win. Even if the party qualifies all 120 people it is only 31 of you who will be selected. We beg of you, if you lose you should know that the whole party is communicating to you that it is not your time,” Asiedu Nketia said.
Meanwhile in the Eastern Region, some aggrieved NDC youth in the Fanteakwa North constituency have threatened to seek legal redress after the party disqualified an aspiring parliamentary candidate.
The party's vetting committee disqualified Kwame Odame Darkwa and two other aspirants for failing to meet certain requirements set to guide the conduct of the November 7 primaries.
He was disqualified on the grounds that he contested on the ticket of the NDP in the last parliamentary election.
But the aggrieved youth believe it is a deliberate attempt by the vetting committee to give special treatment to some aspirants.

Nana Obeng, who spoke to Joy News on behalf of some of the aggrieved NDC youth in the area said they would vote against NDC MPs even if they vote for a NDC Presidential candidate.
