Information Reaching Daily Guide indicates that the Form Two student of the Christian Institute of Professional Studies, Joseph Cudjoe, who was arrested by the Akyem Tafo police in the Eastern Region last year for allegedly murdering Samuel Asimeng Frimpong, a final year student of Christian Heritage Senior High and Technical School over a girl, has been freed.
The suspect was set free by the Koforidua Magistrate court last week – a decision which parents of Frimpong are contending.
DAILY GUIDE learned that the accused, whose father is a police capo, was granted bail after being on remand for nine months.
After the bail, Joseph Cudjoe failed to appear before court on two occasions. This has raised suspicion that the case is gradually being buried without justice.
DAILY GUIDE, in one of its publications, indicated that on February 1, 2014, Joseph Cudjoe allegedly stabbed Asimeng Frimpong in the left arm, pierced his neck with a dagger and slashed his throat when rivalry between the two over a girlfriend became more serious.
The incident, as reported, happened at about 11:00 pm on the street of Kukurantumi in the region during a street jam.
The victim was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the degree of injury sustained. He has since been buried at Kukurantumi.
Father of the deceased, Mr. Aaron Amakye Frimpong, in an appeal through DAILY GUIDE, has called on the Attorney General and human rights groups to help seek justice for the departed son.
