US-based Ghanaian law professor, Stephen Kwaku Asare has stated that the Ghana Police Service and the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) are afraid to arrest the incriminated judges despite clear evidence to nail them as suspects.

According to him, Ghana Police and BNI are afraid to effect arrest of the beleaguered justices who have been allegedly accused of taking bribes to pervert justices by astute investigator, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Professor Stephen Asare chided the security agencies saying they should have arrested the judges after Anas Aremeyaw Anas had done the job they ought to have carried out.

He explained that arresting the judges as suspects for crime of corruption is different from the work the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council are doing to investigate misconduct, seeking for their impeachment.

He expanded his argument that there is no excuse for the police and BNI to wait for the outcome of the investigations of the Judicial Council and the Chief Justice before proceeding on criminal charges against the incriminated judges.

He maintained the loud silence of the security agencies over this judicial bribery scandal is simply an indication that they are afraid of the “big men” in the country as they would have acted swiftly if they were ordinary Ghanaians.

“Our Police and BNI are afraid of the big men in the country and that is why they have not arrested the judges in this case; they should use the strength they used to arrest Charles Antwi and Amina to effect arrest of these judges,” he chided.

He grimaced the judges have got nerves to court to seek injunctions because they know Ghanaians are jokers and not serious to apply the law to take its course; insisting that “by now, the judges should have been arrested and prosecuted for corruption and those who needed to be detained or granted bail known by now.”
