Bagbins Challenger Optimistic

Mr Roger Z. K. Gaalee, an aspirant for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency in the NDC primaries, has said that contesting Mr. Alban Bagbin for the Nadowli-Kaleo seat was not a difficult task as some people view it.

“It is not about wrestling, it is about the people who want change and my candidature is simply a duty call and a response to the cry of the people for a change,” Mr. Gaalee said.

He said since Mr. Bagbin became the Member of Parliament for the area, nobody had ever contested him and that kept him going all those years, the aspirant told the Ghana News Agency after he was vetted at the primaries on Tuesday.

Mr. Gaalee, who is a lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS), said the change the constituents wanted involved all inclusive consultations and positive development.

He said if given the chance, he would initiate pragmatic measures, one of which would be to bring more tractors to help the about 70 to 80 per cent of farmers in the constituency, who are always unable to increase their farm acreages due to inadequate tractor services.

“Cost of ploughing is high and above the means of many farmers in the constituency and I will make sure that tractors are made available at the appropriate time for farmers and at a reduced cost,” he added.

Mr. Gaalee assured that part of the MP’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund, would be allocated to agricultural development to help farmers produce more food for home consumption and for export.

He said apart from the main road from Wa to Nadowli, no road in the constituency had been tarred, and promised to lobby development partners to help build bridges and roads in the area, to facilitate the movement of people, goods and services and enhance business transactions.
