Lets Do Something About Corruption Rev. Frimpong-Manso

The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr Paul Frimpong-Manso, has expressed concern over the extent of corruption in the country which is undermining the confidence and credibility of the nation.

He, therefore, urged the government, the Legislature, the media and the law-enforcing agencies in the country to strive in finding a solution to the canker in order to restore the dented image of the nation created by corruption.

Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso expressed the concern at the induction service for the Akyem Oda District Minister of the church, Rev. David Frimpong-Boateng, who had been elevated as the Eastern Region ‘B’ Superintendent at Oda on Sunday.

The ceremony attracted people from all walks of life, including the Member of Parliament (MP) for Oda, Mr William Agyapong Quaittoo; the Queenmother of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Nana Akua Asantewaa III, and a host of pastors and reverend ministers from many religious bodies.

Rev. Frimpong-Manso stressed that if the Judiciary was corrupt, as had been exposed by ace investigator Anas Aremeyaw Anas, then Ghana was heading for doom.

“If Anas extends his investigations into the various religious bodies, many corrupt pastors and reverend ministers will be exposed,” he emphasised.

The general superintendent condemned the commercialisation of healing by some false pastors through the selling of holy water, anointing and olive oil and other items which he described as antichrist.

He also spoke against the exploitation of church members by some religious leaders, a practice which impoverished the members.

Rev. Dr Frimpong-Manso enjoined Christians to commit their lives and work to God through constant prayer.

He commended Rev. Frimpong-Boateng for his humility and excellent human relations which had resulted in his elevation to the high office and urged him not to relax in his efforts.

The general superintendent noted with concern that even though Christians constituted about 70 per cent of the population, criminal activities were on the ascendancy.

In his maiden sermon, Rev. Frimpong-Boateng thanked God, the leadership and members of the church, traditional rulers and Mr Quaittoo for the practical support given him to ensure the success of his ministry.

He stressed that although his new position was a big challenge to him, with God on his side, he would surmount the difficulties.
