Court Dismisses Contempt Case Against Anas, Others

An Accra High Court has dismissed a contempt application filed by Justice Paul Utter Dery against Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA). Justice Dery, one of the judges indicted in the Anas video for allegedly taking bribes to subvert justice, sued Anas, MFWA and three others for the public airing of the video. But the court Tuesday dismissed the application which affects all others cited in the contempt case. Justice Dery last Friday filed another contempt suit against the Managing Director of Global Cinemas at Weija, near Accra, Mr Ernest Oppong. Justice Dery had also filed a contempt application against the Accra International Conference Centre, the Media Foundation For West Africa, United Television (UTV) and Starr FM.
