Heavy Police Presence @ EC Office Despite Injunction

Report available to peacefmonline.com indicates that there was heavy police presence at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC) even though they (police) had secured an injunction against Let My Vote Count Alliance’s (LMVCA) planned demonstration.

Peace FM's Obeng Manu reporting from the EC premises indicated that the police have taken over the premises of the EC as well as the street leading to it (EC office.)

According to him, once the police spot a car coming to their direction, they ask the drivers to turn back.

The police on Monday, secured a court injunction to stop LMVCA from staging a demonstration scheduled for 29th September, 2015.

Prior to this, an Accra circuit court had ruled that LMCVA can picket at the office of the EC. According to the court a restraining order obtained by the police against the planned picket at the vicinity of the Electoral Commission on Tuesday, had run its course.

The police immediately, went for another injunction to prevent the protesters from picketing at the EC office.
