Are The Police Crazy To Beat You Up Without A Cause? - Fred Agbenyo Quizzes LMVC Demonstrators

NDC Communications Director, Fred Agbenyo has lambasted members of the Let My Vote Count (LMVC) over the series of demonstrations by the group.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesse on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Fred Agbenyo wondered why the demonstrators would want preferential treatments from the Ghana Police Service.

According to him, the demonstrators like any other Ghanaian are equally not above the laws of the country and so, deserve to be prevented by the Police if they flout court orders over their procession.

He however condemned the inhumane action meted out by the Police personnel on the demonstrators, weeks ago during the LMVC demonstration to petition the Electoral Commission about a new voters' register.

Nonetheless, he believes the demonstrators should have comported themselves and obliged with the directives of the Police.

Mr. Agbenyo held strongly that the demonstrators are not "superior human beings" to think that "they must be treated in a particular way because it is them. I am getting worried about this posturing. We are all equal before the constitution of this country. We all have a duty to safeguard the nation.”

“Are the Police crazy that they will pick up clubs to beat people and injure them out of nothing? Yes, we can say that in some cases it was quite excessive…Doesn’t blood circulate in a police officer?” he questioned rhetorically.
