Get Right With The Law Or Face Decisive Action

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has inaugurated a new police station at Asawase in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality, with a call to everybody to get right with the law.

He warned that nobody would be allowed to threaten the peace and security of the society and that acts of lawlessness and impunity would be met with decisive action.

They would go after anybody who breached the law regardless of their political affiliation.

Funding for the construction of the project was provided by the Asokore-Mampong Municipal Assembly.

It comes with offices for the station officer, criminal investigations department (CID), a charge office, cells and washrooms.

DCOP Boakye asked the people, especially supporters of the various political parties to be mindful of their actions, as preparations towards the 2016 general elections intensified.

They should be tolerant of each other and avoid anything likely to stoke tension and endanger peace.

Mr. Nurudeen Amidan, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), pledged to give every needed support to the police to drastically reduce crime in the area.

He spoke of plans by the assembly to build four additional police stations to assure the people of adequate security protection.

Mr. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Member of Parliament (MP), for the area, expressed concern about what he said was the attempts by some chiefs to seize state acquired lands.

That he said was not only an illegality but completely unacceptable and could be counter-productive to the development of the municipality.
