Promote UN 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Developments

Heads of State, Government and High Representatives are meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from September 25 to 27, 2015 to adopt a new global Sustainable Development Goals as the organization celebrates its seventieth anniversary.

Base on this agenda, global leaders have adopted a historic decision on a comprehensive, far-reaching and people-centered set of universal and transformative Goals and targets.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, the founder of “Food For All Ghana”, Mr. Elijah Amoo Addo has revealed as one of the partnerships toward the 2030 UN Agenda for sustainable developments globally the commitment of his team to work tirelessly for the full implementation of agenda.

He however has urged the mainstream media in Ghana and West Africa to play active role in collaboration with organizations within Africa to work towards achieving the goals set by the global leaders.

“We commit ourselves to working tirelessly for the full implementation of this Agenda by 2030. We recognize that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. We are committed to achieving sustainable development in its three dimensions – economic, social and environmental – in a balanced and integrated manner. We will also build upon the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals and seek to address their unfinished business” he assured.

“I believe the media in Ghana must play a very instrumental role in achieving the objectives set in this agenda. Government must work in partnership with the media, civil society and NGO’s in the country to achieve these goals for the country. Going through this goal, we as a food recovery organization with the mission of creating sustainable means of nutrition for the vulnerable in society by recovering food going waste along our supply chain feels more encourage in achieving our vision to build food banks across West Africa. We therefore call on public-private partnership towards achieving the sustainable goals”, he urged.

“We want to use this opportunity to call on all Ghanaians and corporate bodies to join us on October 17th,, 2015 to break the current Guinness world record for the longest table in the world in aid of raising funds to build West Africa’s first food bank in Ghana. There are over 374 food banks in the USA and more than 500 food banks across Europe however West Africa has no food bank with over 65% of food going waste along our food supply chain. Food for All is shared social responsibility and to achieve Goal 2 of the sustainable development agenda and other goals alike we all need to be partners in development with the media playing a substantial role of letting Ghanaians know and work towards it”, he added.
