Community appeals to Ghana Water Company to repair pipeline

The chiefs and people of New-Krobo in Techiman Municipality have appealed to the Ghana Water Company to repair the pipeline over the Tano River Bridge to enable them to access potable water. Mr. Divine Amenya, President of Techiman Presby Trinity Co-operative Credit Union and spokesman for the people, said apart from New-Krobo and its catchments areas schools and companies had been cut-off from pipe borne water. He mentioned the Adventist Secondary Technical School, Premier palace hotel, Comforter Preparatory School and Woaso community as the affected areas. Mr. Amenya told the Ghana News Agency that since the construction of the Tano Bridge the people had faced difficulties in obtaining water and called for the immediate repair of the pipeline. He said several approaches made by the people to the municipal office of the Ghana Water Company Limited to repair the pipeline had proved futile. The Tano River Bridge on the Techiman/Sunyani road became a death trap resulting in many accidents and loss of lives in October 2008 until its re-construction.
