Ghanaians Are Not Angry Enough...We Should Punish Our Leaders - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt, Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, says Ghanaians should begin to punish the country's leaders in order to instill discipline in the nation.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Mr. Pratt bemoaned the incompetence of government officials stressing that it is about time Ghanaians became stricter.

He wants the nation to get angry at the leaders since to him, this appears to be the only language that will let the leaders do the right thing.

“We don’t punish our leaders. If our leaders know that there is a cost to pay for disregarding the interest of the working people and so on, they will sit up and work. But these things don’t matter. We don’t punish them hard enough. Ghanaians are not angry enough. When we get sufficiently angry, our leaders will respond to us."

According to him, "there are no consequences for inefficiency", so the leaders go scot free when they misbehave or shirk their official duties.

He noted that the leaders are the employees of Ghanaians because they were elected by the citizenry.

In respect of this, "we should supervise their work. We should impose disciplinary action when it is necessary. That is the only way of getting things done.”
