Hearts Reveal Criteria For Selection Of New Coach

The 20-time league champions are leaving no stone unturned to pick the best manager for the club. The General Manager of Accra Hearts of Oak Gerald Ankrah has outlined the benchmark on which a new coach would be appointed. The Phobians are expected to name a new trainer in the coming weeks following the expiration of Edward Ansahs mandate as stopgap manager after the dismissal of Herbert Addo. Several factors will be considered especially experience, financial demands and their vision for this club, Ankrak told Hearts News, the official newspaper of the club. We want a candidate who has what it takes to make Hearts an African football powerhouse once again. We deserve better than what we have done over the past few years and the best opportunities. We have to correct our mistakes now. Goal understands 15 coaches are in the running for the position including Italian Roberto Landi, Croatian Zdravko Logarusic, shot-term technical trainer Can Vanli as well as Edward Ansah, who has resigned from his official duty as goalkeepers trainer in order to pursue the job. The search is on and we are hopeful of appointing a substantive coach any time soon before we commence our preseason programmes, Ankrah added. The Accra-based side placed fourth in the 2014-15 Ghana Premier League after spells in the relegation zone, only being saved by a Disciplinary Committee ruling which awarded them three points from rivals Asante Kotoko who fielded an unqualified player in a matchday 25 encounter. The Phobians are expected to begin preseason training for the coming season on October 19.
