Ghanaians Should Avoid Complacency

Mr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Deputy Minister of Finance, has advised Ghanaians to avoid complacency and move forward in whatever position they may find themselves as far the country's socio-economic development was concerned.

He said, this way, they would be collectively making useful contributions towards the speedy achievement of national reconstruction goals.

Mr Forson was addressing more than 600 catholic faithfuls to mark the 100 years of the establishment of the Catholic Church in Ajumako-Bisease in the Central Region, at Ajumako-Bisease.

The Deputy Finance Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, recalled the vital contributions which Catholic Church had played in the country’s development over the years, and assured the church of government's continuous support.

Mr Forson praised the founding fathers of the Ajumako-Bisease Saint Michael Catholic Church for their sacrifices to sustain the church in the area, and counselled the current leaders and followers of the church to maintain the spirit for greater achievements.

He said he was personally happy to note that Saint Michael Catholic Church in the town had assisted immensely to produce great scholars for Ajumako-Bisease since its establishment.

Majority of these scholars had played and continue to play vital roles in many fields of national endeavour.

The Catholic Church, Mr Forson further stated, had therefore become an indispensable partner in development during the various succeeding governments.

The Deputy Minister said that for ever, Ghanaians would remember the huge contributions the church had made in education, health, sanitation and other social services to advance the course of the country's forward march.

He commended leader of the Ajumako-Bisease Parish of the Church for choosing the theme "Let your Light Shine” for the centenary celebrations, saying that it was very appropriate for the occasion.

Mr Forson reminded the congregation that as Christians “you are salt of the world, so your light must shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Heavenly Father”.
