Nana Addo Pulls Biggest Crowd

BUSINESS ACTIVITIES at Adum, the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi came to a halt following Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s invasion of the place on Saturday morning.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate pulled one of the biggest crowds ever witnessed in Kumasi in recent times when he visited the studios of Hello FM for an interview.

The mammoth crowd demonstrated the NPP’s strength and readiness for election 2016, contrary to claims by some party people that the NPP was currently weak in the Ashanti Region.

S.K. Boafo, former Ashanti Regional Minister, during a meeting with the NPP faithful, claimed that the NPP’s popularity was at its all-time low in the Ashanti Region, calling party members to work hard.

The spontaneous massive turnout of NPP supporters at the Hello FM premises on Saturday, however, seemed to prove that the former Ashanti Regional Minister’s assessment may be based on wrong premise.

Within minutes, the busy street linking Kejetia and Hello FM area was filled with a sea of enthusiastic people in the city who rushed there to catch a glimpse of Nana Akufo-Addo.

The crowd was so huge that vehicular movement in the hitherto busy street became almost impossible as every inch of the street was occupied by the excited fans.

The crowd, mostly traders who had left their wares just to support Nana Akufo-Addo, waited patiently for about two hours as the NPP flagbearer was being interviewed on radio.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who was in the Ashanti Region with his ‘Rise and Build’ tour, could not believe what he witnessed on the streets when he came out after the interview.

The NPP presidential candidate stood on top of the Hello FM building and waved at the hundreds of people, most of who are staunch NPP members in Kumasi.

The security detail of Nana Akufo-Addo had a hell of a time controlling the crowd, who were certainly in ecstatic mood, before they could usher Nana Akufo-Addo into his vehicle.

Most of the people also followed Nana Akufo-Addo’s convoy to the Georgia Hotel, where the NPP leader was billed to interact with some selected constituency executives, MPs and defeated aspirants of the NPP.

Political pundits in Kumasi that spoke to the paper later on, said the huge crowd that stormed Adum to watch Nana Akufo-Addo, was an indication that the NPP is still vibrant in the Ashanti Region.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the NPP chairman in Ashanti Region, told Daily Guide that the party was stronger than ever in the region, adding the NPP would win over 80% votes in Ashanti Region.

He said the NPP was vibrant in almost all the constituencies in the Ashanti Region, tasking the party’s supporters to sustain their hard work for the party until victory 2016 is achieved.
