Tamale West Hospital Baby Theft; Woman Found Guilty

A Tamale Magistrate Court presided by His Lordship Augestine Essah on Monday 12/10/15 found Vida Golomesio guilty on charges of stealing a baby boy at the Tamale West Hospital.

Vida has therefore been remanded and will appear to hear her sentence on Wednesday October 14, 2015.

Vida appeared in court today in a loose necked Panasonic T shirt tucked in her 'Sankansi' wrapper.
In a tousled hair, she looked straight in the direction of the judge, trembling with fear in the docket as the prosecutor read out the case.

When it took turn for Justice Essah to decide, he asked Vida why she stole the baby.

In answering the Judge' question, Vida incoherently string in apologies and said it was due to "pressure" from her husband.

She said she had been with her husband for a long time without a child and the husband always insult her for being barren.

She said her decision to steal the child was to save her marriage as her husband had threatened her with divorce.

However, Judge Essah who constantly demanded to know the health of the baby boy when it was rescued from Vida said, there were legal means she could followed to own a child if she genuinely wanted to.

He deferred the sentence to Wednesday to have more 'insight' of the case.

It would be recollected that the Police arrested Vida Golomesio at Karaga about 97km from Tamale where she bolted away with a newly born baby boy at the Tamale West Hospital.

Vida who was said to be a fish trader at the hospital inveigled the family of the baby boy under the pretense of offering help and run away with the boy.

She was later arrested and took to a chief palace at karaga and was transferred to the regional police headquarters of the DOVVSU.
