Human Resource practitioners and business leaders have been urged to put their companies’ employees at the forefront of strategy planning in order to develop homegrown talents.
Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, former Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, who made the call at this year’s HR Focus conference in Accra said the homegrown talents would in the long run, contribute significantly to the economic growth and stability of Ghana.
This year’s edition of the HR Focus Conference and Awards crowned at the weekend saw the gathering of various organisa-tions, as well as stakeholders of Ghana’s HR community to recognise and reward organisa-tions that have distinguished themselves in HR best practice.
Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, Chief Executive Officer of HR Focus Magazine (a subsidiary of L’AINE Services Ltd) said effective human resource management was vital to the development of all institutions and indeed, all countries.
“HR Focus Magazine, as a stimulus for the growth of HR in Ghana, has made the HR Focus Conference and Awards possible so HR practitioners and other players in the industry can come together to promote the HR development agenda,” she said.
Airtel Ghana and Volta River Authority collected awards for Best Organisation in Learning and Development Practice and Best Organisation in Performance Management respectively.
Starlife Assurance also took home the Most Promising Organisation in HR Practice, while Fidelity Bank won the awards for the Best Organisation in Rewards Management Practice and Best Organisation in Organisational Culture.
MTN and Vodafone won multiple awards including the two most prestigious awards of the night with MTN winning the Overall Best Organisation in HR Practice Award and Vodafone’s HR Director — Mrs. Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng being crowned the HR Practitioner of the year.
