The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a case which sought to challenge the legality of the Constitutional Review Commission.

Last year, a US-based Ghanaian professor, Stephen Kwaku Asare, filed a suit at the Supreme Court, seeking eight reliefs including nullifying the constitution review process currently underway.

He had argued primarily that the executive acted unlawfully by setting up the Commission to review the constitution, noting that Parliament was the soled body that could initiate, consider and propose amendments to the constitution.

The professor insisted that the commission had no power to schedule a referendum or to amend the Constitution.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court, chaired by the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood said the case had no merit and has subsequently scheduled October 29, to publish the reasons for the ruling.
