Appiah Menka: NPP In Tatters

Mr Appiah Menka, member of the council of elders of the New Patriotic Party has rubbished claims by some leaders of the party that all is well within the NPPs fold, which he described as absurd. It will be ridiculous for leading members of NPP to pretend as if the party is not divided. Infact there is a clear manifestation of factionalism within leaders of the party, the earlier we stand up to this fact and deal with it, the better, according to the outspoken member of the NPP council of elders. The New Patriotic Party chairman Mr Peter Mc Manu quickly came out to debunk this assertion and challenged Mr Appiah Menka to prove his concerns. This move by the party chairman has exposed his consistency and double standards. Mr Mac Manus comments has made him eat his own words after he has rebuffed Appiah Menkas assertion describing it as unfounded. Mr Mac Manu, the NPP chairman during the partys conference last weekend admitted in his submission that it is true there is a summering faction within the ranks of the party leaders. Those perceived to be siding the immediate past flagbeaer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and those also loyal to former President Kufuor and Alan Kyeremanteng. The party chairman that day pleaded with all those factions to put behind them their individual differences and interests and unite as one solid party to take over power come the next general elections. Interestingly, Mr Peter Mac Manu had swiftly turned against his own words. Mr Appiah Menkah insisted that nobody can run away from the fact that there is no deep rooted factionalism in NPP. If something drastic is not done to curb this menace it would cause us dearly in the 2012 general elections, he said. Factionalism he said had gradually infiltrated the ranks of the grass roots of the party. According to him recent culture of friends of various leading personalities of the party is a very dangerous precedence, like what happened during the flagbearership contest of the party. That exercise rather created cracks within the party which we are still battling to recover. He warned that such realities must be first exposed and dealt with it tactfully and strategically.
