Make Akufo-Addo Council of State Member- NDC Chairman Pleads

The Eastern Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on President Mahama to appoint the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a Member of the Council of State.

According to them, Nana Akufo-Addo would be retired in politics in the 2016 general elections thus the appointment will serve as a retirement package.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Tawiah Boateng made the request while addressing party members at a mammoth rally in Koforidua.

He argued that given the enormous experience the NPP flagbearer has in Ghana body politic, it would be prudent to for him [ Nana] to serve as a Council of State member to contribute his quota to Ghana’s development.

Mr. Boateng noted that the party is poised to win 50 percent of the valid votes cast in the Eastern region to retain President Mahama in power.

Citing what he described as unprecedented developmental projects by the Mahama-led administration across the country, another term for the NDC would be one touch.

The NDC Eastern region Chairman opined that the region does not belong to the NPP therefore with perseverance and hard work, the 50% target would be achieved.

“We will retire Akufo-Addo and put the NPP in perpetual opposition in 2016” he stressed..

Mr. Tawiah Boateng urged all party members especially in the Eastern region to work assiduously for a landslide victory in 2016.
