Jerry Akaminko Returns To Action After Recovering From Long-Term Injury

Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko made a return to the pitch after recovering from a long-term injury. The 25-year-old has been out of action for more than a year after sustaining an ankle injury. The former Heart of Lions defender underwent a surgery after twisting his ankle in Ghanas pre-World Cup friendly against the Netherlands in May last year. The defender who was expected to be back in September last year failed to recover on time for Ghanas 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Equatorial Guinea. After a long absence from action, the Eskişehirspor defender finally made a return to the pitch after featuring in his sides 1-0 defeat to Akhisar Belediyespor in the Turkish Super lig on Sunday. The Ghanaian international lasted the entire duration of the game but could not help his side avoid a painful defeat at the 19 Mayıs Stadyumu in Manisa. The former Ghana U17 skipper could only make the bench in Eskişehirspors previous game against Beşiktaş. His return serves as a big boost for Black Stars coach Avram Grant ahead of the teams World Cup and Cup of Nations qualifiers after missing the services of the defender in Equatorial Guinea.
