Vote For Roads Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has promised the people of the Eastern Region that if they vote for him to win the upcoming 2016 general elections he will invest massively in the deplorable roads in the region.

President Mahama said government is determined to improve road infrastructure to make it easier for movement of goods and services from food-producing areas to the urban centres.

Mr. Mahama stated this at Kukurantumi on Saturday when he cut sod for work to begin on the 20-kilomter Koforidua-Bunso road.

He said the road is being constructed under the cocoa roads programme and that it is expected to be completed within 18 months.

The 20-Kilometer road is being constructed under the Cocoa Roads Improvement programme at the cost of GH32.2 million.

Under the project, roads in cocoa-growing regions will be constructed and others rehabilitated.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Mahama said the road project is in fulfillment of the promise he made the people of the Eastern Region during his campaign tour of the area.

“During the campaign time, I promised that when given the mandate, we will do a massive improvement of the roads in Eastern Region. So the Bunso-Koforidua road is one of the roads I promised to construct and it is under the cocoa road projects,” he said.

The Chief of Kukurantumi, Daasebre Boamah Darko, on his part, thanked President Mahama for cutting sod for the Bunso road and encouraged him to continue with the good work.

The chief further assured President John Mahama of victory in 2016 for doing a good job during his tenure.
