Mahama Gov't Must Honour Its Debt Obligation To Utility Providers - Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has charged Government to defray its cost to utility providers in the country.

According to him, Ghanaians are experiencing perennial power cuts because of the failure of the Mahama government to pay up its debt to the utility providers.

Reports indicate that the Volta River Authority, power generation company, owes Ghana Gas about 130 million dollars whereas the Electricity Company of Ghana owes Volta River Authority (VRA) to a tune of 1 billion cedis.

The Government of Ghana also is indebted to the Electricity Company of Ghana to a sum of 2.2 billion cedis.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, admonished the government not to further heap coals on the heads of Ghanaians by refusing to honour its debt obligation.

To him, it is unacceptable for the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to increase utility tariffs amidst the current energy challenges confronting Ghanaians.

He called on the Mahama administration to intervene and "save us".
