Avram Grant Is A Lazy Man, Says PLB Boss Abra-Appiah

The former Portsmouth gaffer continues to incur the wrath of many local for continuously snubbing outfield players for national assignments. The president of the Premier League Board, Welbeck Yaw Abra-Appiah, has lamented Ghana coach Avram Grants persistent overlook of home-based players, calling the Israeli a lazy man. The former Chelsea manager claims the quality of talent in the local league has not been up to his demand, drawing the ire of local pundits. I find it difficult to agree with those who think our local based players are not qualified to be playing for the Blacks Stars,Abra-Appiah told Starr FM. If you had your assistant [Maxwell Konadu] in charge of the CHAN team [home-based Black Stars] and there is a friendly in Washington, what prevents you from adding some local players? This is because at least five or six players in the team will boost their morale and confidence for future call ups than still inviting the known faces. Ghana played Canada on October 13 in an exhibition in the USA with an almost foreign-based contingent, as has largely been the case under Grant, with Ashgold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda the only home based included. Abra-Appiah added: Our coach is a lazy man. He shouldnt be talking like that. He even doesnt watch matches and can't identify talents. The Black Stars are set to face Comoros in the second round of the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in a two-legged affair in November. However, beside Dauda, it is unlikely Grant would call up any member of the home-based Black Stars team that defeated Cote dIvoire 2-1 in the African Nations Championship qualifier on Sunday.
