Mr Noah Apedoe, a Tema East National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant, has urged the public to cease portraying members of certain ethnic groups as not having the right to represent the people of Tema.
“The NDC is the only party which is able to pull support and votes from all the regions of Ghana,” he said.
“Tribalism has no place in our party. We stand for the unity and development of our dear country and that is why we are called a congress.”
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he said, Tema was a unique cosmopolitan metropolis, where people of all races, ethnic groups, and political persuasions had always coexisted peacefully, therefore, “It is too late in the day for some politicians to preach bigotry in our dear port city.”
He called for a level playing ground for the election of a parliamentary candidate so that the winner and the losers would wholeheartedly embrace the party’s quest for a united front to win the 2016 general election.
Mr Apedoe asked registered members of the NDC to go for their biometric party cards so that they would have the power to choose the person they want to lead them.
He described himself as, “A new face without blemish, saying Tema East needed a public spirited, compassionate and an honest person.”
