NPP Youth Wing Celebrates The Freedom Of Yahuza And Co
The New Patriotic Party Youth Wing, celebrates the landmark victory of Yahuza and his colleagues all of whom are NPP youth activists at the Court of Appeal in Kumasi.
You will recall that sometime in 2009, Yahuza and his colleagues were arrested in Tamale after a clash between some NPP and NDC supporters had resulted in the death of one person in Tamale.
As a Wing, we are extremely excited about the fact that our age long position regarding the innocence of these loyal, committed and industrious members of the Wing when the issue first happened in 2009 has finally come to light.
We therefore wish to seize this opportunity to thank all who made diverse contributions at ensuring this landmark victory.
We specially want to acknowledge the role played by the party's Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo and that of his running mate Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, and the National and Northern Regional executives of the New Patriotic Party for their tireless and unflinching support for these members of our Wing.
Special commendation also goes to my predecessor, Anthony Abaryifa Karbo, who began a public crusade to ensure that the issue always remained topical in our public discourse. We also acknowledge the efforts of the various youth groups which showed enormous concern through occasional visits and prayers for our brethren. The youth wing also doffs of its hat to the legal team which remained unwavered throughout the period when it appeared there was no end in sight.
Again, we also wish to seize this opportunity to call for a professional approach from the Ghana Police Service in matters such as this. It is interesting to note that throughout the period at no point were members of the NDC who were involved in the clash invited by the police to answer questions on their involvement in the clashes. We are deeply concerned about this apparent one sided approach which appears to have become a dominant feature of the service since the NDC took over power in the year 2009.
This victory is bound to cause some grave jubilation in Tamale and its environs, and we wish to admonish our colleagues to exercise moderation and focus on the most important goal of helping our colleagues to effectively integrate.
