The 2016 flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has confirmed a publication in The aL-hAJJ’s Tuesday, October 20, 2015 edition that his party is scheming to destabilize the crucial 2016 elections.

In what seemed like direct riposte to The aL-hAJJ that the NPP will indeed set the country ablaze ahead of next year’s election, Nana Akufo-Addo openly told an international audience in America that the 2016 elections in Ghana risked being rigged by the ruling NDC government for which reason the international community must be ready to intervene.

Delivering a speech at the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC, the twice defeated presidential candidate, without any shred of evidence, said conditions in Ghana today, shows that the 2016 elections will be rigged.

“Ghana has worked incredibly hard to preserve a democratic character. One administration shouldn’t be allowed to undermine it. And at times, this requires putting the interest of the country above partisan interest.

“The hope is that the global community takes notice and urges change before the elections rather than looking back at the 2016 elections; shaking their heads and asking ‘how did this happen’; we are telling you exactly how it’s going to happen,” Akufo-Addo told a gathering in Amsterdam as part of his European tour.

He added: “All the pieces are in place for a rigged election. As Africans, we have witnessed election related violence tear countries apart, we know what we risk should these problems not be resolved,” he noted

NPP TO BOYCOTT 2016 POLLS
Contrary to expectations of Ghanaians that they will go to the polls next year to elect new Members of Parliament and a President, certain elements within the opposition New Patriotic Party are scheming to ensure that the 2016 elections does not come off.

Instead, intelligence reports gathered by The aL-hAJJ indicate that, as part of the agenda to scuttle the elections coming off as schedule, the Akufo-Addo-led pressure group, LMVC, intends in the coming days, to mount vigorous and if possible, violent campaigns to pressurize the EC to compile a new voters’ register.
“The aim of these plots is to force the international committee to broker peace between the NDC and NPP for unity government, which will then give Nana Akufo-Addo the opportunity to also taste the presidency like he has desired since childhood,” a security source told The aL-hAJJ.

Apparently, the above average performance of the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government so far, and the unending bickering in the opposition NPP, this paper gathered, have pricked the conscience of senior members of the party that Nana Akufo-Addo will once again lose the 2016 election to NDC’s John Mahama hence, the reason to act to avoid it, as its repercussions for the NPP could be catastrophic.
“They can’t afford to be in opposition for another four years after the 2016 elections, so the only way to prevent that is to find a way to block the 2016 elections…and that will give them the opportunity to share power with the ruling party,” a source familiar with the plot revealed.
This paper’s independent investigations have revealed that all pro-NPP pressure groups and some professional bodies plan teaming up to defy the police in the event the police attempt to stop them from future demonstrations beginning from July-August next year. This, according to their strategy in the possession of this paper, is likely to record heavy casualties which will turn the people against the government.

Meanwhile, in the follow up series of violent demonstrations to hit Ghana, comparable only to the Arab spring revolutions, the pro-opposition demonstrators will then attempt to seize some strategic government buildings, “to create a situation the country has become ungovernable to the extent that, the international community will be forced to intervene to call for a government of national unity.”
While the NPP and its assigns have hoodwinked some unsuspecting Ghanaians into believing that their demand for a new voters’ register is genuine and non-negotiable, this paper has gathered the real reason behind it is to prepare the grounds for causing confusion ahead of next year election, thus stopping it.

Inadvertently letting out Nana Akufo-Addo and his henchmen’s dastardly plot is a spokesperson for NPP sponsored pressure group, Let My Vote Count (LMVC), Ibrahim Adjei, who audaciously stated on a live TV program, “I swear by God Almighty, there will be no election (In 2016).”

According to him if by next year the EC does not compile a new voters’ register like Nana Akufo-Addo and his assigns are demanding, the anti-government pressure will employ ‘all legitimate means’ to block the general elections.

Although he failed to give details of how they intend to block next year’s election, The aL-hAJJ has gathered that the NPP has assembled some fine legal brains and retired police and military officers to plan on how to throw the country into confusion by resorting to the courts to stop the 2016 election and at the same time embarking on violent demonstrations to create a country in a state of confusion. So that by January 7, 2017 when no president has emerge as there wouldn’t have been elections as they envisaged, a constitutional crisis would arise.

The NPP has been pilling pressure on EC to compile a new voters’ register after its 2016 running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said it has discovered 76,000 foreigners on the present voters’ register.

In line with what the NPP said it has discovered the EC called for proposals from all political parties, civil society and faith-based groups on the voters’ register. The EC has so far received 30 proposals.

While the EC is busy scrutinizing the proposals and has announced plans to organize a forum for all those who have submitted proposals to make presentations by the end of this month, the NPP has begun instigating its pressure groups to organize demonstrations and to meet with influential personalities in the country in order to stampede the EC into yielding to their demands.

The NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, recently toured some European countries, hoping they will add to the pressure on the EC to compile a new register for the 2016 elections.

In the views of NPP leaders and members, the only way Nana Akufo-Addo can achieve his childhood dream of becoming president is for the register to be changed, failure of which the country will be up in flames. Stay tuned
