PHOTOS: Angry DKM Customers Destroy Company Property

Angry customers of DKM Diamond Microfinance on Friday stormed its premises, destroying properties worth millions in Sunyani, the capital town of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The customers were protesting against the delay in the payment of monies due them.

This comes weeks after the Bank of Ghana lifted an embargo on the microfinance company prompting it to resume business.

The Central Bank in May placed a four-month moratorium on the firm for violating the banking Act.

It further sanctioned the firm to inject Gh¢ 50 million before it could be allowed to operate.

DKM, after the go-ahead was given to them, promised their customers of payment.

However, the aggrieved customers say they have not yet received their money.

They therefore stormed the premises of the financial institution Friday morning and starting destroying properties.

It took a combined effort of military men and police personnel to calm the situation.

Currently calm has been restored and management has been urged to be swift in the payment of the monies.
