The win moved Hearts to the second position on the standings with six points, while Heart of Lions, the leaders, stunned Asante Kotoko to alone goal victory at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. It was a well deserved victory for the Phobians, who outplayed their guests much to the admiration of the sparse crowd. Striker Eric Gawu scored the opener on 14 minutes through Douglas Nkrumahs pass against the run of play with left footer that kissed the post before zooming into the yawning net. Ten minutes on, Prince Arkoh drew parity for King Faisal with a cheeky header that surprisingly beat Hearts goalie, Laud Quartey. On the stroke of half time, returnee striker, Bernard Don Bortey restored Hearts lead by firing home after Faisal goalie, Samuel Okyere spilled Hamza Mohameds thunderbolt unto his path. It was Borteys third goal of the tournament. The second half clearly belonged to the Phobians with petit midfielder Ishmael Aryee, leading several incursions into the Faisal half, but they failed to turn their dominance into more goals.
