UK Oil Firms Strengthens Bond With Ghana

Some leading oil and gas companies from the United Kingdom over the week paid a courtesy call on the Petroleum Ministry to discuss ways Ghana and the UK can work together to strengthen existing, and establish new, business relationships in the petroleum sector.

The Chief Director for the Ministry, Prof. Thomas Mba Akaabza who chaired the meeting assured the group of the Ministry’s support. Director in charge of the Petroleum Directorate, Mr. Lawrence Apaalse, spoke on key investment opportunities in Ghana’s upstream and downstream petroleum sector.

The EIC, whose membership consists of operators, contractors and suppliers, across all areas of the energy sector, was established in 1943 and it is the leading trade association for UK companies that supply capital goods and services to the Energy Industry worldwide.

Key objectives of the delegation include:

- to understand the dynamics of the oil and gas industry of Ghana;

- gain further understanding of the potential business opportunities
relating to the oil and gas industries in Ghana;

- to foster and strengthen relationships between operators, contractors
and suppliers operating in Ghana;

- to meet local companies in order to gain an understanding of the local
business culture and possibly seek business tie-ups;

- to seek out specific project opportunities and advice on prequalification
procedures.

The delegation was made up of companies which represent a cross-section of the UK oil and gas industry such as Alderley, CMP Products, Granherne, KOSO Kent Introl Limited, Petrofac Engineering Ltd, Trident Engineering Consults, Triplefast Middle East Limited and TTE International Ltd.
