Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East in the Central Region, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson has slammed Dr. Arthur Kennedy over his comment regarding the suspension of the NPP’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy was one of the first people to condemn the suspension of the party’s National Chairman, Paul Afoko describing the incident as unfortunate.

According to him, the suspension will deepen the impression that the NPP is inhospitable to non-Akans.

“Politically, this unfortunate coup not only all but concedes the 2016 election because of our proclivity to chaos and resulting unattractiveness to floating voters- it changes who we are and has the unintended effect of reinforcing the unfortunate impression that our party is inhospitable to non-Akans.”

Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Hon. Hawa Koomson said Arthur Kennedy didn’t disappoint her with his comment as it was expected after Mr. Afoko’s indefinite suspension as NPP's National Chairman.

In her view, Arthur Kennedy’s comment does not seem to defend Paul Afoko but rather taking advantage of the incident created in the party to fight the Flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo.

“I am absolutely clear in my mind that Arthur Kennedy is fighting Nana Addo. He is not defending Afoko; he is using Afoko as a conduit to attack Nana Addo. I know he hates our Flagbearer to the bone and his mission is to derail the focus of the NPP”, she jabbed.

She further stated that “Arthur Kennedy prefers a National Chairman who is looked after by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC); hence never has he once spoken against the government, thinking he is in competition with the Flagbearer…a chairman who cannot even go to his own office. Let him keep Paul Afoko”.

Hon. Hawa Koomson however expressed confidence in the acting Chairman, Hon. Freddie Blay.

“We will take the positive risks in this campaign when required. We shall not allow any person or group of persons to undermine the project," he added.

Touching on the tribal card played by Dr. Arthur Kennedy, Hon. Hawa Koomson quizzed whether the late Chairman Adams who opposed Paul Afoko due to his principle was playing northern card.

She again demanded to know whether the campaign against both Hajia Alima Mahama and Alhaji Bawumia for consideration as Running Mate in 2008 by Arthur Kennedy can be argued as anti-north.

“Arthur Kennedy is on record to have stated that the NPP has not benefited from North/South ticket and called for the discontinuation of that policy. He talks about floating voters but insults NPP for welcoming CPP people. He wrote a book after the 2008 elections condemning lack of discipline in NPP yet he wants the party to go into a crucial election with a Chairman who thinks discipline is a disease; this is hypocrisy at its highest level,” she fumed.

To her, the one-time NPP Presidential aspirant is struggling to catch some attention in the media to stay relevant; hence his constant loose articles without merit.
