Turmoil At NPP Office Again; Kwabena Agyepong Booed By Supporters

Barely few days after a motorbike and a taxi cab belonging to loyalists of Paul Afoko, suspended New Patriotic Party Chairman were destroyed at the party’s Headquarters, chaos has returned again Tuesday afternoon.

Newsmen who monitored a steering committee meeting called by the national executives reported that the General Secretary left the meeting unceremoniously.

It is unclear what may have caused Mr. Agyepong  to leave the meeting but suggestions are that, he went into the meeting primarily to inform the executives of a pending lawsuit against the suspension of the National Chairman, which had been served on the party through him.

He said when Mr. Agyepong came out of the meeting before it ended, “people started booing at him and few minutes later others started banging the bonnet of his car. About 30 police officers were there to calm tensions”.

Those who hooted at him were mostly some members of the party led by one Hajia Fati, and members of the party’s private security force at the headquarters, Invincible Forces.

Further reports picked up by Citi News indicates that when Mr. Agyepong entered the meeting to inform them about the pending suit, Hajia Fati followed him with insults before the others joined to hoot at him.

Mensah Opoku said there were visible signs of cracks on Mr. Agyepong’s car as he eventually moved out of the premises with the help of the police who had arrived at the scene in about six cars.
