EP Church urges President Mills to remain steadfast

The General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church has appealed to President John Atta Mills to remain steadfast in his pursuit of good and transparent governance. This was contained in a message of felicitation sent to the President at the close of the churchs first General Assembly held in Ho. The message said the Presidents moral and material support in recent times to the Police Service and allied organizations to curb criminal activities and also measures to strengthen the economy were refreshing. It called for the revamping of the agriculture and manufacturing industries to give jobs to the large army of the unemployed in the country. The message noted with gratitude the decision of government to provide free school uniforms for pupils of basic schools but cautioned that steps are taken to ensure the policy did not undermine the vulnerable in the rural communities. The General Assembly advised that dialogue should be used to address all cases of political rivalries. It expressed concern about recent upheavals on the political front resulting in unnecessary confrontation between the police and political activists culminating in destruction of property, injury and death of innocent people.
