Politics is all about numbers and one may wonder why the New Patriotic Party chose to suspend Mr. Paul Afoko as their National Chairman with few months left to a general election.
But the Director of Communications for party, Nana Akomea has made it clear that if the National Executive Committee had not weighed the implications and seen wisdom in suspending Mr. Afoko indefinitely, they would not have carried it out.
The National Executive Committee of the NPP on Friday 23 October, 2015, unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee to suspend Paul Afoko.

Briefing the media after Afoko’s suspension, Nana Akomea stressed that:
“By the NPP’s constitution, Mr. Afoko has I think two weeks to appeal to a higher body. A body higher than the National Executive Committee and that body is the National Council.
He has two weeks to appeal if he finds anything wrong with the procedure or the recommendation of the disciplinary committee, he can just put into writing and appeal to the National Council within two weeks and the National Council will be a second platform to look at the matter again”.
