Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications says the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) would strive to get more votes in the 2016 general election to ensure one touch victory.
He said the party would therefore work hard to ensure that it gets a million voting gap ahead of the main opposition New Patriotic Party.
He indicated that the NDC is hopeful of achieving its set target as a result of the achievements by the Mahama led administration which cut across every sector of the economy.
Dr Omane Boamah made this known at the campaign launch of Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa at Battor in the North Tongue Constituency of the Volta Region.
Mr Ablakwa is seeking a second term in office as the Member of Parliament for the Constituency.
According to the Minister of Communications, President John Dramani Mahama stands for an excellence in good leadership, development, and providing tangible solutions to issues confronting the country including providing unity among the people and expressed the hope in achieving the million votes target in 2016.
He said since assuming office in January 2012, President Mahama has been working hard to ensure that development is taken to the doorsteps of the people, and the numerous projects being carried out in all the sectors of the economy is a clear testimony.
He mentioned roads, schools, health facilities and other infrastructural development being carried out in the Volta Region by the government, including the airport at Ho and eastern corridor road.
Dr Omane Boamah said President Mahama is contesting as an unopposed candidate for the NDC as its flagbearer and appealed to the delegates to massively endorse him on November 7.
He also appealed to the delegates of North Tongue to vote massively for Ablakwa to enable him continue his developmental agenda.
Mr Ablakwa promised to continue working hard to promote development in the area and urged all delegates to massively endorse his candidature and that of President Mahama.
