Mr Simon Nordor, an educationalist, has observed that unsubstantiated allegations of impropriety against community leaders were frightening many public spirited people from serving their communities.
He was speaking at the commissioning of a day care centre, built under the Sixth EU Micro Projects Programme, for the Chicago Basic School at Denu.
Mr Nordor, who chairs the Management Committee of the school, expressed regret that the rumour which claimed that Mr Simon Bedzo, the assembly member for the area, had diverted monies for the project, when he (Mr Bedzo) was the one who helped the school to raise the 25 percent community counterpart cost for the project.
He said though people must be vigilant, their allegations must be cogent, explaining that the EU does not release monies to individuals.
Mr Nordor expressed gratitude to the EU for the day care centre, which Mr Robert Buatsi, the Volta Regional Director of the EU Micro Projects, said was one of the 898 executed countrywide under the sixth phase.
Mr Buatsi said structures put up under the project, include school blocks, day care centres, toilets, rural health facilities, teachers and nurses� residential quarters.
