EC Forum: Stop Taking Entrenched Positions...This Is A National Exercise - Ofosu Ampofo Charges

Director of Elections for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has called on political parties in the country to come to a consensus on the current voters' register.

Commenting on the forum by the Electoral Commission on voters' register, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo advised the parties to be each other’s keeper.

According to him, there is no need for a new voters register because "the most inclusive and comprehensive registration that we’ve done is Ghana’s own where at every point in the process, the political parties and other key stakeholders participate in the exercise. So, we shouldn’t bastardize our systems."

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo further urged the parties to stop taking entrenched positions on the issue of the voters register.

"I don’t believe that entrenched position will help us in this matter. I believe consensus building is the order of the day…we’re not reducing this exercise to NDC/NPP. We’re making this a national exercise. I believe, at the end of the day, there will be reason for consensus and for us to move forward as a nation.
