Details are emerging about the circumstances under which the New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong�s car was damaged and how the case was reported to the police. A Daily Guide source claimed that Kwabena Agyepong left the NPP Headquarters immediately after the incident, which was roundly condemned by the party, and reportedly drove to Ex-President Kufuor�s residence at Airport West residential area to complain bitterly to him before he reported the matter to the Police CID Headquarters. Curiously, he drove all the way to the Police Headquarters to report the incident which led to the arrest of vociferous party member, Hajia Fati Amadu, when the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down was only about 700 metres from the Nima Police Station. Some sources also claimed there was a partial damage of the back-screen of his V8 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle when he left the party headquarters; but by the time he was leaving the ex-President�s house to the Police Headquarters, the whole screen had shattered, suggesting that it was tampered with by some unknown hands. One of his lackeys, Davis Opoku Ansah aka OPK, reportedly confirmed that Kwabena Agyepong went to ex-President Kufuor�s house and added that his boss had gone there to inform Mr. Kufuor about the attack. The incident happened at a time the leadership of the NPP was holding a Steering Committee meeting after earlier suspending the party chairman. This was when speculations had become rife that Kwabena Agyepong had gone to the headquarters to serve an injunction notice to the meeting following the indefinite suspension of Paul Afoko as National Chairman of the party. It was therefore believed that an agitated member of the party might have hit the rear windscreen with a stone and in the process cracked it. Even though it is not yet known who exactly caused the damage to the General Secretary�s vehicle, leadership of the party resolved to take up the cost of fixing the screen. Hoax Resignation Analysts are struggling to trace the source of a letter purported to have announced the resignation of Mr Agyepong in May which turned out to be a hoax. On Tuesday May 26, 2015, several media houses received emails suggesting that the NPP scribe had resigned. Minutes after the news broke, Mr. Agyepong, who had hardly been heard of since the death of his party�s chairman for the Upper East Region, Adams Mahama, quickly came on air granting interviews to radio stations, vehemently denying the content of the email which contained his purported resignation. However Daily Guide checks indicate that the email might have emanated from someone who had access to Mr Agyepong�s computer. According to an IT expert, a careful scrutiny of the said email from one of the recipients suggested that it bears an IP number 41 231 09 that can be traced to somebody who used an apple laptop and is connected to Mr. Agyepong�s home Vodafone Broadband account or; the NPP General Secretary has an open (unprotected) wifi that can be accessed by the public or unknown people to generate the mischievous resignation letter.
