NPP Is A Docile Party Meant To Be In Opposition For Long

Taking into the consideration the mammoth bickering within the New Patriotic Party, it would be suicidal to consider the party favorites in the upcoming general elections, Alhaji Ibrahim Dori has predicted.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dori, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, tells Peacefmonline.com in an interview that he pities the NPP following the strings of unfortunate events that keeps disintegrating members of the party.

Citing the recent suspension of Mr. Paul Afoko as an example, Alhaji Dori described the event as an ill-timed one that would only “endorse the entrenched position that the NPP is an Akan dominated party.”

We are talking about a chairman of a party who was elected by over thousand delegates. If the executives have a problem with his behavior, there are rules and regulations they should have followed in dealing with him. They shouldn’t have handled his case the way they did”, he explained.

On the 21st October, 2015, the National Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party submitted a report to the Executive Committee of the NPP; recommending the indefinite suspension of Mr. Paul Afoko as National Chairman.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) unanimously endorsed the recommendation of the National Disciplinary Committee on Friday 23 October, 2015.

By the decision of the NEC, Mr. Paul Afoko was suspended indefinitely from the position of National Chairman of NPP.

But Alhaji Dori foresees the NPP remaining docile and staying in opposition for long.
