Lack of Due Diligence Bane Of MMTs Woes- Mike Hammah

The Minister of Transport, Hon Mike Hammah, has attributed the current operational crisis at the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) to the lack of proper due diligence on the part of the NPP administration. Hon Mike Hammah was responding to earlier comments made by the former Minister of Roads and Transport, Dr Richard Anane, that the Yaxing buses imported from China, under his tenure, were tropicalized to meet with road and weather conditions in Ghana. The buses were tropicalized to meet with prevailing climate conditions in Ghana, and the windows and shock absorbers were modified, Dr. Anane told PEACEFM. However, Hon Mike Hammah says most of the buses are in a terrible state of disrepair and nothing good to write home about and called for an immediate remedy rather than the usual apportioning of blame. I familiarized myself at the MMT yard by embarking on a visit sometime ago and the number of broken down vehicles I saw there was an eyesoreif he claims the buses were tropicalized, how come they break down that easily, its a design error, he said. Hon Mike Hammah, who was speaking on PEACEFMs Kokrokoo, mapped out possible solutions to address the problem. We are trying to talk to the Chinese govt to bring back the training agents to continue from where they left offwe need to consider making major modifications of the design, especially the drive line and engines, he outlined.
