Money Swine! Minister Brandishes Hummer 3 For Campaign

In the wake of the fast rising economic crisis, coupled with fluctuations in power supply, and massive unemployment, pictures of a National Democratic Congress (NDC) branded 2015 Hummer vehicle, embossed with the Greater Accra’s Regional Minister, Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo’s image has started flying ahead of the party’s primaries.

The expensive, flashy Hummer (H3) Vehicle, with registration number GT 1900-15, allegedly belonging to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, since it emerged has raised concerns, particularly on social media.

But Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, who is vying for the Kpone-Katamanso parliamentary slot for the second time has not publicly owned up as the owner of the said vehicle. Reliable sources in the ruling party have however hinted he is enjoying massive financial support from government.

When the Accra Minister was contacted, he denied owning the said vehicle, saying he had also seen it on the internet.

Earlier, he said the vehicle could belong to one of his staunch supporters, but when asked if he had inquired about the owner of the said vehicle, he said “oh it belongs to a family member”, whom he declined to name.

The support from government, according to our sources was to make sure the Accra Minister remain the Member of Parliament for the area, due to his influence and relationship with the grass-root members of the party.

“One thing in politics is that, there are some people you need in particular places, especially when they are the people’s choice, you need them both at the constituency and the national front to win more votes. Such people, if you are in power and you don’t support them to win certain slots, it can create a very big problem for you. We all know the contribution of Hon. Nii Laryea in our party and I think he deserves the kind of support the president is giving him. After all, we are in power and we have the money, we cannot sit down for the NPP to take power from us. Upon all the cash, and we allow the NPP to take power from us that would be stupid”, one source averred under strict anonymity.

Stay tuned.
