Following the long battle for the takeover of their responsibilities from the Destination Inspection Companies and the political arousal of sure failure when they take over, the Ghana Customs has proved them wrong by successfully taking over its operations and till date, has maintained an upward integrity so far.
The successful implementation of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Reporting System (PAARS), which is used to generate the Customs Classification and Valuation Report (CCVR) has come with its own praises, where the various stakeholders and agents are glad they can now get their documents processed in less than 48 hours and this has helped them fish out the bad eggs in their caucus as the system which is robust and fast has put an end to corruption when clearing of goods comes in place.
The successful implementation has also seen an increase in the revenue generated by Ghana Revenue Authority- Ghana Customs Division. PAARS which allows traders to submit their customs information electronically in advance of the arrival of their goods has been praised by agents so far as one of best innovations we have introduced in ages.
With the success on PAARS a follow-up for how effective this take over can be across all trade agencies is now the tune of stakeholders who believes automation has become the final say in the country.
The Ghana Revenue Authority- Customs Division has announced through its communications department of a new added module on the Pre-Arrival Assessment Reporting System- PAARS. This module which has just been introduced will increase transparency, save time and cost for stakeholders in the import and export business. The Used Vehicle Valuation Module will be used by various stakeholders to obtain their CCVR Used Vehicle for their used vehicle importation into Ghana.
