Nii Armah Ashietey Inspects Odawna Defense Wall Project

Nii Armah Ashietey, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle on Tuesday inspected the ongoing flood defense wall project at Odawna.

The project which is fully funded and executed by the Policy/ Presidential Delivery Unit of the Presidency through the facilitation of the MP will bring relief to resident and traders around Adabraka, Sahara and Odawna market.

As part of the Defense Wall project, there will be 24 stores constructed along the wall (8’ by8’) to replace the containers that are currently lined up in haphazard fashion.

A similar project is being undertaken by the Mayor of Accra along the Odawna project. This project includes a massive storm all being built along the Odawna River.

However, the Odwana market wall project is being built to replace the storm wall which was broken during the June 3 flood disaster and its absence according to residents, have caused minor floods any time the rain falls. “Since the wall got broken, this entire place gets flooded..... It was not like that before so the project should be completed soon" a trader at the Odawna market told the MP during his inspection.

The MP assured the traders, who gathered to show their appreciation to him for heeding to their call for assistance that he will ensure the early completion of the project so that they will be relieved. " I assure you all that every project we have started together will be completed early enough to avoid any more floods".

Nii Armah Ashietey encouraged the workers on the project to deliver within time. He cautioned them that the traders in the market will be watching them every day and that they can't afford to disappoint the traders.
