Black Stars Players Are Patriotic, They Do Not Play For Money - GFA Prez

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi has jumped to the defense of the Black Stars players following recent criticism from football enthusiast who believes players of the National team are unpatriotic. Players of the senior National team have been lambasted for requesting huge sum of monies from the government. The Black Stars players were given $100,000 each as participation fee at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The team were further rewarded with a prize money and grand Cherokee vehicle each for winning silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. Nyantakyi in a press briefing at the launch of the FIFA health program at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday insisted the Black Stars players so not play for money. Our players play not for the money contrary to the erroneous impression that some people think players play because of the bonuses they earn, he said. They earn far more bonuses from their Clubs, they earn far more salaries from their Club but there is a spirit of patriotism that has been inculcated in the players. Anytime they come to play the interest is to raise and serve the country. Getting bonuses is secondary. The Black Stars players are expected to arrive from their respective destination to begin preparation ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros on November 13.
