Ex-Security Capo Had Govt Land on Dec. 2, 2008

In the first quarter of 2007, ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor sacked his National Security Co-ordinator, Mr Francis Poku. In his lace, he appointed Dr. Sam Amoo. In the weeks towards the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, many independent minded Ghanaians knew that the elections would be close. In addition to ensuring that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the elections, Dr Amoo was also interested in getting some choice government in lands outside Accra. On Thursday, November 27, 2008, a lease document was prepared between Mr George Amoako Quaicoe, as Chairman of the Western Regional lands Commission and Dr Sam Amoo f the National Security Council Secretariat. It gave Dr Amoo a 1.73 acre land, plot no. 2, at Ketan Road Estate, Sekondi. All the documentation were completed and signed by Tuesday, December 2, 2008 (five days before voting on December 7, 2008). A source at the Western regional Lands Commission who confirmed this to the Daily Dispatch also revealed the plot housed an old government building which was hitherto allocated to the Ghana Police Service. A question that comes to mind is with the Police Service in dire need of housing facilities, couldnt the State have demolished the building and built a permanent structure for the Service?
