Blood Pressure Kills Woman @ Engagement

Confusion at an engagement ceremony at Nankese -Trio near Suhum in the Eastern Region on Saturday afternoon has led to the death of a fifty-eight-year-old woman.

The deceased, who has been identified as Adiza, reportedly collapsed and died later at the Suhum government hospital during the scuffle at the engagement ceremony.

The deceased, a high blood pressure patient, was the grandmother of the groom, Denteni Kasim.

Kasim allegedly led a group of family members from Kibi to storm the engagement ceremony after hearing that different family members were there to represent his biological family at the ceremony due to their opposition to the marriage ceremony.

Information gathered indicated that the family of the groom, who are Muslims, opposed the marriage to the bride, Joyce Tetteh, who is a Krobo.

As a result, the groom decided to marry secretly without the involvement of the family.

But, while the ceremony was ongoing, the groom got information that different family members were already there.

He, thus, stormed the venue which led to a scuffle and destruction of some plastic chairs and canopies.

The deceased, who led the family to the venue collapsed in the process and was rushed to Suhum government hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The body has been conveyed to Kibi for a Muslim burial.
