Catholic Priest Urges Diligent Worship Of God By Christians

Reverend Father Dominic Yaw Asuahene, Parish Priest of the Nkoranza Saint. Dominic Catholic Church, has urged Christians to worship God diligently by denying themselves of the pleasures of the world.

Rev. Fr. Asuahene gave the advice during a sermon at a service at Nkoranza to observe “All Saints Day” on the calendar of the Catholic Church worldwide.

The Reverend Minister said failure to deny oneself of the pleasures of the world could drag one to indulge in all manner of social vices, but “we must remember that God hates evil deeds.”

Rev. Fr. Asuahene described Saints as people who ever lived in this world and offered themselves to the service and worship of the Almighty God, irrespective of the atrocities and challenges that faced them.

He pointed out that “faithful worshipping of God is a challenging task, because a true Christian must live by the teachings and life of Jesus Christ who offered himself as ransom for many, but even faced all manner of trials for the sake of humanity.”

Rev. Fr. Asuahene advised the congregation to stand by the word of God and eschew negative practices and attitudes that would prevent them from entering Heaven.

He said despite the proliferation of churches in Ghana, crime wave was rising, and urged Ghanaians, especially Christians, to stand firm and guard against temptations that could mar their lives to draw them backwards as devoted and pious Christians.

Rev. Fr. Asuahene reminded human kind that there was judgement after death, and that it was true that sinners would go to hell, while God’s chosen people would go to heaven.

He praised the Blessed Virgin Mary who lived a chaste life, and therefore received the favour of God to give birth to Jesus Christ, “our Saviour, ” and urged women of all races and religions to emulate her exemplary life.
