NDC Parliamentary Aspirant Vows To Deliver The Jaman North Seat

A parliamentary aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Jaman North Constituency, Abdul Wahab Seidu, has pledged to unite the party to win the seat if elected by delegates on November 21.

He stated that he had “all it takes” to recapture the seat they lost marginally to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 polls.

He has therefore appealed to the party’s delegates to judge correctly and give him their votes.

Mr. Seidu, a banker working with Suma Rural Bank, is contesting the parliamentary primary with four others – Augustine Kofi Sah, Freeman Abdullai, Abraham Sah and Fredrick Yaw Ahenkwaah.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that internal wrangling cost his party the seat it had held since year 2004, in the last elections, and said, working together with everybody for victory would be his immediate priority.

The NPP incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Jaman North, Mr. Stevens Siaka beat Mr. Alexander Asum Ahensan, Ghana’s Ambassador to Equatorial Guinea and a former Minister, by 202 votes to win the seat despite the party’s presidential candidate trailing his NDC counterpart by a huge 5,000 votes’ margin.

Mr. Seidu noted that given the right choice of candidate by the delegates, winning the seat back would not be difficult task.

They should overcome divisions and go into the 2016 with a strong and united front, something he said he would go to every length, to make happen.
