Mahama Probably Has Problem With Logical Reasoning? - Effia MP

Recent comments by President Mahama on who qualifies to criticize him have attracted condemnation many citizens in the country, latest to punch the President on his comments is Joseph Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Effia Constituency in the Western Region.

President Mahama on Monday fumed over criticisms against his government by the running mate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, saying he is not fit to criticize him.

“Did you hear Bawumia say incompetent Mahama? You’ve never held any responsibility anywhere near the presidency before; you don’t know what it is like to be President”.

"I’ll take that word from Kufuor or from Rawlings because they’ve been there before. All of you guys [NPP critics] have never ever come near the presidency. [Do] you know what it takes to be a President? And you stand and say incompetent Mahama administration,” Mahama fumed at a rally at Trade Fair in Accra.

He accused the NPP of instructing its supporters to tag him as incompetent in the hope that the tag would stick, saying: “My competence is not for them to judge, it is for the people of Ghana to judge, and I know that come 7 November 2016, the people of Ghana will judge my competence and they will give me another victory by the grace of the almighty God”

However, Joseph Cudjoe analyzing the President’s comments in an exclusive interview with New Crusading Guide said he believes the President has problems with logical reasoning.

“On one hand the President says it should take someone who has been a president before, for example Kufuor or Rawlings to judge his competence. And at the same time, Mahama says that in November 2016 Ghanaians, will judge his competence”, he wondered.

The MP wondered if by 2016, all Ghanaians would have become former Presidents like Kufuor and Rawlings and thus qualify to judge his competence.

He said by this reason the President has demonstrated incompetence and a serious flaw in logical reasoning.

The MP pointed out that the President must have known that, one certainly needs not to be a medical doctor, barber, tailor, driver, teacher or cook to be able to assess the competence of such professionals.

He cited an example that a student sitting in front of his own teacher can judge whether the teacher demonstrates competence or not.

“You can look at your child’s report card and judge his competence, you don’t necessarily have to be a child to know that”, he concluded.
