Former General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP) James Kwabena Bomfeh has raised red flags over the number of "No" votes cast for President John Mahama during the NDC Primaries on Saturday.

According to him, the fact that President John Mahama had some people within his own party voting "NO" against is proof of his non-performance as President and leader of the nation.

President John Mahama secured an overwhelming 1,199, 118 'Yes' votes representing 95.10 per cent from party members in a presidential primaries held on Saturday and Sunday.

The President went into the contest unopposed but had to be endorsed per the rules of the party.

Out of a total of 1, 286 728 party members who cast their votes, 61,836 voted 'No' in relation to President Mahama’s candidature in 265 out of 275 constituencies. The "No" votes represented 4.90 per cent of a total 1, 260 954 valid votes cast. Rejected ballots representing 2 per cent were 25,774.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, James Kwabena Bomfeh, affectionately called Kabila, believed the votes on Saturday should be a wake-up call for the President.

He advised him to stop painting his opponents black when they come out with dissenting views regarding his administration.

“There are people party who are dissatisfied with the performance of John Mahama. Rightly so! So, you should stop sending a person to the cleaners when he or she is not in your party but questions the governance system of the President. If there are people in your party who disagree with President Mahama being your flagbearer, then it behooves on you to know that there are people in your own party who think the President isn’t performing well,” he stated.
